The order of large reptiles, called Crocodilia or Crocodylia, appeared in the late Cretaceous Period, which is about 84 million years ago after the Jurassic period. The alligator, crocodile, gharial or Indian gavial and caiman families are part of the crocodilian group of species. These reptiles are known to be monstrous and ferocious especially its teeth, jaws and predatory skills.

As fierce as a crocodilian, Rene Lacoste was nicknamed “the Alligator” by the American press initially due to an alligator skin suitcase bet with the Captain of the French Davis Cup back in 1927. But more importantly, the public recognized how Rene Lacoste always displayed his tenacity on the tennis courts. Frenchman Rene Lacoste was among “The Musketeers” who stole the Davis Cup away from the Americans in 1927. Among his many achievements include three French Open victories (1925, 1927 and 1929), two Wimbledon championships (1925 and 1928) and two U.S. Open titles (1926 and 1927).

In 1933, together with Andre Gillier, Rene Lacoste founded La Chemise Lacoste producing sportswear tennis shirts with the crocodile logo on the chest. In 1963, Rene’s son Bernard Lacoste took over and expanded the company internationally including the United States. The Lacoste brand exploded into fame in the 1970-1980s as it became one of the essential preppy wardrobes to covet. In this period up until 1993, Izod and Lacoste collaborated together to produce the Izod Lacoste apparel brand. Izod was then sold to Van Heusen.

With Lacoste’s popularity surging through the times, the company has also encountered disputes and guerilla competition with its image and branding. Hong Kong apparel brand Crocodile Garments had troubles with the crocodile logo. The infamous and satirical Croc O’Shirt shook up the fad. Le Tigre Clothing sprung up to compete with Lacoste in the U.S. market.

Today, Lacoste operates in numerous boutiques and department stores worldwide. In 2008, the Lacoste brand celebrated its 75th anniversary with Christopher Chenut as CEO and Michel Lacoste as President.

YOUR FEEDBACK:

If you have this brand of jeans, let us know what you think about it.
Your answers are in general terms only and refer to your brand experience as a whole.
We will go in depth when we feature the seasonal collections in the future.

Your responses should follow these 4 Point Criteria:

(a) Quality: Degree of value of which it is made. Fabrics, materials, hardware, stitching, etc.
(b) Style: How does it fit your style? How much creative design was applied to it?
(c) Comfort/ Fit: How comfortable are you wearing it? How does it satisfy your expectations?
(d) Influence: Who/ what encouraged you to get a pair? Advert, word of mouth, celebrity, etc.

Referred to as "The French Gap". Mega Style. Affordable Raw Denim. APC jeans.

The French Gap. Mega Style. Designer denim jeans APC or Atelier des Production et Creation was founded by Jean Touitou in 1988 in France. Their collections are well known for its sophisticated designs on clothing basics. They even make affordable raw denim. Currently, APC, Jessica Ogden and Jean Touitou himself introduced the Madras theme. Made in India. Casual. Fresh.

The appeal of raw or dry denim is that with time, the fabric fades similarly to a factory distressed denim. Fading depends on the body of the person who wears the jeans and how their daily life is conducted. This produces a more natural and unique look than pre-distressed denim.

In fact, designer denim jeans APC or Atelier des Production et Creation has some trendy washing recipes on hand. The extremist recipe is to let the jeans get dirty for as long as possible. The first wash must be dry clean. The following washes would be to soak the jeans with a special dark detergent in an hour, then rinse, roll and hang up to dry. The semi-extremist recipe is similar to the extremist recipe but the jeans are wrung and hung up to let the water drain. The machine recipe, on the other hand, uses a 90 degree Fahrenheit or 30 degree Celsius delicate cycle but no spin cycle involved on the jeans. Last is the seawater recipe, which is more adventurous. Let the jeans dirty for so long then swim in the ocean. After that, rub the jeans with dry sand. Maybe roll over and drag the jeans several times. Rinse in fresh water and let dry.

Designer denim jeans Atelier des Production et Creation jeans have several styles available. The APC New Standard Jeans is in raw denim fabric with red selvage. Moreover, the APC New Standard in Black Denim Jeans is a classic unisex denim in normal waist. It is slightly fitted at the bottom. The APC Hipster Jeans is a women’s low rise similar to the classic unisex denim. It has a 2 cm lower rise and 1 less button closure. The APC Unwashed Indigo Narrow Jeans is also for women. It has straight legs, 5 pockets, a button fly, a mid waist and a close fit. The APC New Cure Jeans is also neither low nor high rise. It has a very narrow leg, slim fit and a first button engraved. While, the APC Petit Standard Jeans is like the new APC Standard Jeans but with a lower rise and narrower waist, slimmer fit on the hip and leg. The APC Hippie Jeans, though, is a wide leg, slight flared bottom jeans. Finally, the APC Capri Jeans is an unwashed denim in short length.

APC or Atelier des Production et Creation has similar traits with American Gap as others have referred to. But definitely, APC jeans has its own distinct style that only Parisian fashion can create.

What's the best way to remember a birthday? Write it on a pair of jeans. Nice.

What’s the best way to remember a birthday? Write it on a pair of designer jeans. Nice. And if you write your own birthday on the clothes you make, I’m pretty sure you’ll get loads of greetings and even gifts on your special day. So you need to get ready with the overflow of text messages on your iPhone soon. In good humor, 575 Denim, now called May 75 jeans, was founded by Frank Mechaly. Born in Marseille, France and raised in St.Tropez. Mechaly, together with southern California native, Shaun Hurley, from Sacred Blue, made a partnership to develop the 575 Denim/ May 75 brand into a classic yet cutting edge jeans brand.

The 575 Denim/ May 75 Jeans home is located in Downtown Los Angeles, California. They have over 200 people in staff on site to sew, grind, sand, tack and wash every pair of jeans. The designer jeans are produced in-house with Italian and Japanese fabrics. With that laid back Los Angeles lifestyle, the brand has garnered recognition among Hollywood celebrities and worn on many TV shows. 575 Denim/ May 75 Jeans was also featured as one of the top celebrity worn jeans during the 2006 Sundance Film Festival by Hollywood Life Magazine. Due to the growing demand, they have also launched a children’s line.

Various designer denim styles include but not limited to the 575 Denim Palace in straight leg, the 575 Denim/ May 75 Butcher jeans in vintage straight, Vagabond jeans in light wash snug and straight, 575 Denim/ May 75 Parliament jeans in low rise and skinny and the Seersucker Trim jeans in dark wash orange topstitching with faded and distressed whiskers.

The 575 Denim/ May 75 washes vary from “The Frank”, “The Beverly Hills” to “The Farmers”. All point to the myriad of interests and landmarks in Los Angeles.

575 Denim/ May 75 jeans does not only showcase the outdoorsy Los Angeles lifestyle or the unique intricate details as a penny button closure but also reflects a more personal touch created from the founders’ passion to quality denim. By the way, if all else fails, that penny button closure on your designer jeans may likely pass for extra change on the parking meter.
