Indigofera Prima Jeans

Scientifically, Indigofera is a large genus of species of flowering plants belonging to the legume family, pea family, bean family or pulse family. The species are mostly shrubs, herbs and small trees. Among the most common types are the Indigofera Tinctoria (true indigo) and Indigofera Suffruticosa (Anil) which are used to produce the indigo dye. The chemical aniline was first synthesized from Indigofera Suffruticosa. The indigo dye is the organic compound that produces the blue slightly purple color. Its primary purpose is to dye a cotton yarn. As such, the denim cloth for blue jeans was born.

Indigofera is not only a plant or color but a fashion brand as well. Based in Sweden, Indigofera Prima Jeans, is headed by Johan Soderlund and Mats Andersson. They have been active in the denim industry for decades and both have decided to carve out their vision of the dream jean. It may initially sound like an infant formula but UNIQLO is one of Japan’s leading clothing retail chain around. The brand’s success in Japan paved way for international expansion in Asia, Americas and Europe.

UNIQLO is a primary subsidiary of Fast Retailing Co., Ltd., a Japanese retail holding company which owns brands such as ASPESI, Comptoir des Cotonniers, Foot Park, National Standard and is affiliated with American-Japanese clothing brand Theory.

Since 1949, a chain of men’s clothing shops called Men’s Shop Ogori Shoji propagated in Ube, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. By June 1984, a unisex casual wear store opened in Fukuro-machi, Naka-ku, Hiroshima, Japan under the name “Unique Clothing Warehouse”. To shorten the title, the company came up with UNIQLO as an acronym for “Unique Clothing”. In 1991, they changed the company name from Ogori Shoji to Fast Retailing.

The 1998 fleece campaign boosted UNIQLO across Japan. Since then the company has adapted to dynamic economic scenarios and managed to open stores outside Japan. The first set of global flagship stores opened in New York’s SOHO in 2006 and London’s Oxford in 2007. The global R&D systems in New York and Tokyo continue to capture fashion trends that affect consumer lifestyles.

Today, UNIQLO‘s philosophy extends to clothing as lifestyle components. The brand does not dictate a total lifestyle. YMC You Must Create Jeans

In 2006, we saw bugs and wasps. There were more polka dots and plaids. The clothing line showed a bomber jacket, polka dot knitted shirt, cropped blazer, leather scarf, goosedown coat and biker jacket.

In spring summer of 2007, there was a pair of boxing gloves. The spirit of 1969, the Suedeheads and West Indian music culture of ska and reggae proliferated. The apparel line featured work boots, donkey jackets, polo tops, printed poplins in Gingham, lightweight reversible Harringtons, sta-prest trousers, an iconic folded handkerchief and subdued colors. While in fall winter, we got struck by lightning bolts. The style showed some jacquard and cubes. The ensemble offered pleated pegs, cropped chinos, bomber jackets, cropped duffle coat and large cuffed hems.

In 2008, we got a lot of fishy creatures from the aquarium. The era was from the 40s -50s pre-surf Hollywood. There were classic macs, jersey wear and lots of patterns involved.

For this year, in 2009, grandma and grandpa goes to fashion week with snake print, stripes, cardigans and classic knits. Women’s ensemble includes a floral mini playsuit, lightweight battle jacket with shirring elastic cuff and waistband, Crochet style silk blend knit cardigan, traditional deck shoe in snakeskin printed leather, flower print silk crepe shirt and a high waisted pleated peg trouser. On the other hand, the men’s selections have a hunting jacket, a bellow pocket jacket, a scarf cardigan, floral shirts, soft sheep suede workwear inspired lace up demi boots, traditional deck shoe in snakeskin printed leather, breton tops, chino trousers and shorts.

In ultra greased lightning style in this modern chaotic era, You Must Create (YMC) bolts out with electricity in the fashion world.
