Perhaps one of the most recognizable brands in intimate apparel in the world is Victoria’s Secret. Spicing it up with the most beautiful and best paid models such as Daniela Pestova, Karen Mulder, Laetitia Casta, Heidi Klum, Stephanie Seymour, Tyra Banks, Adriana Lima, Selita Ebanks, Alessandra Ambrosio, Izabel Goulart, and Karolina Kurkova intensified the charm. The lavish costumes strutting on the runway through their Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has made the brand more visible than ever. More so, the Victoria’s Secret Angels were even awarded with a star on the timeless Hollywood Walk of Fame.

American womenswear, lingerie and beauty products retailer, Victoria’s Secret, is the biggest brand segment of Limited Brands. The company, based in Columbus, Ohio, USA, also operates Bath & Body Works, Henri Bendel, C.O. Bigelow, The White Barn Candle Company and La Senza. Victoria’s Secret started In 1977 in San Francisco, CA, USA by Roy Raymond at the Stanford Shopping Center. The following years, a mail order catalog was introduced and more stores opened. In 1982, The Limited, now Limited Brands, purchased Victoria’s Secret. Today, the brand has expanded to over 1000 Victoria’s Secret stores mostly in shopping centers and town malls.

Blue London or the London collection is the designer style denim collection of Victoria’s Secret jeanswear. On the other hand, launched in 2004, Pink gears itself for the tastes and styles of high school students and college undergraduates. This micro brand has a large lineup of loungewear, sleepwear, intimate apparel, accessories, school supplies and jewelry. The Pink Collegiate Collection showcases various colleges and universities around the United States. While, the Mini Dog is their mascot.

In their early 20s and late teens, Gene Montesano and Barry Perlman opened up their first jeans shop in Florida called Four Way Street. In 1978, Gene moved to Los Angeles, CA and later on helped Michael Caruso build Bongo Jeans. In 1990, Gene left Bongo to start his own company. He partnered up with Barry and launched his dream, Lucky Brand.

Lucky Brand became controversially famous with its irreverent yet playful message, “Lucky You” coupled with the four leaf clover logo tucked in the fly. This became one of its trademark styles which captured the attention of celebrities and fashionistas around the world. In 1999, Liz Claiborne acquired a majority of the company. The strategic partnership paved way for Lucky Brand to expand and increase its international distribution including Hong Kong, Macao and the Middle East.

Neither generic clothing categories nor common fashion generalities, Generra is today’s re-Generra-tion of the understated chic and youthful spirited lifestyle. The word “genera” in scientific terms refers to the classification of living organisms larger than a species but smaller than a family. On the other hand, the Generra brand, reflects this genre towards a collective approach of effortless style and unpretentious attitude to fashion.

In the late 1980s until the early 1990s, the once hyped up Hypercolor line of clothing by Generra made a splash around town. Hypercolor clothing changes color with various heat temperature. After that, unfortunately, the company made a quick revenue decline. In 1995, Alan Bobin of Household International led Generra out of bankruptcy by licensing the brand to retailers such as Sears and Mervyn’s. In 2002-2003, New York City based Public Clothing managed by CEO Dan Shamdasani acquired Generra.

With a fresh start, Generra kicked off with several creative projects in 2004-2005. The Generra Celebrity Jean Auction was a charity function and auction of jeans designed by celebrities, musicians and artists benefiting the Inner-City Arts. Gwyneth Paltrow, Adrien Brody, Kirsten Dunst, Damien Rice, Julianne Moore, Ryan Seacrest, Selma Blair and Justin Chatwin attended the event. Polaroids was another project in collaboration with Kelly Klein to capture the true beauty and reality of today’s youth culture. Factory, on the other hand, was a project recreating Andy Warhol’s factory and photographed in 1960s Richard Avendon style. Lastly, Project Real World took 20 young New York trendsetters into a customized Chelsea art gallery abode capturing their dynamic interaction with each other.
