The man behind the Ben Sherman brand was the late Arthur Benjamin Sugarman, who was born in Brighton, England in 1925. While applying citizenship in America, he changed his name to Ben Sherman. As he was already making shirts for other people, only in 1963 that he became ready to launch his own shirt label.

The first Ben Sherman shirt followed a classic American Ivy League top with his signature back hook, which is a button on the back of the collar. He used Oxford fabrics in pale shades of pink, yellow and blue plus candy stripes patterns. The shirts eventually became a huge success. Ben Sherman targeted various British youth markets in different eras such as the post war teddy boys, Italian style modernists or mods in the 60s, rock & roll hipsters from the 70s, retro ska culture from the 80s and the cool Britannia and Brit pop movements of the 90s.

Owned by Oxford Industries since 2004, the label has become a global lifestyle brand. Not only does the company produce shirts but also entered into different apparel lines such as suits, denim jeans, shoes and accessories. Their signature designs also include the Royal Air Force roundel or mod target and Carnaby fit styles. Ben Sherman currently sells in over 40 countries worldwide.

Thoroughbred horse racing. Thoroughbred jeans and garments. The Ascot Sport clothing line reflects the English racecourse in Ascot, Berkshire.

Thoroughbred horse racing. Thoroughbred garments. The designer Ascot Sport clothing line reflects the English racecourse in Ascot, Berkshire. It is one of the premier racecourses in the United Kingdom and is closely associated with the British Royal Family.

The Ascot Sport June 2008 fashion collections has several good looks. A quilted down jacket, cut for a classic fit with a detachable hood for added protection and durability together with a classic cut Ascot Sport jeans in medium blue dye denim and striped shirts are a combination of one look. Another style mix is a brown canvas field jacket, striped blue white collar long sleeved shirt and the designer denim Ascot Sport jeans in dark indigo wash with Ascot Sport logo crest on the front coin pocket. Furthermore, the use of a brown military down jacket and the Ascot Sport distressed jeans is also evident. Also, the Ascot Sport designer jeans in black denim and distressed dark wash and gold contrast stitching with black quilted jacket and black long sleeve shirt show another option too.

On the other hand, womenswear comes with pale white hunters chino trench coat in faux fur collar and slim fit raw denim style Ascot Sport jeans. Another look is a white long sleeve shirt, crimson red down vest and Ascot Sport indigo jeans.

Ascot Sport’s style has that conservative feel with traditional lines . Modern elements are also blended in as shown in their denim and outerwear garments. Overall, Ascot Sport jeans and clothing pieces are conventional. It shows the regal status with high quality fabrics. Yet, the designs show a progressive movement.
