Union Bay is actually a part of Lake Washington in Seattle, Washington, USA. Moreover, the Union Bay Natural Area is an outdoor preservation for vegetation, wildlife and organic landscapes. Furthermore, Lake Union, previously a Vashon glacial lake, also created Lake Washington and has primary flows from Lake Washington Ship Canal. The geographical location is perhaps the inspiration for Seattle based clothing company, Union Bay.

Youth oriented Union Bay is Seattle Pacific Industries’ (SPI) primary brand. SPI also operates ReUnion Menswear, Sergio Valente jeans and Howe, the label of designer Jade Howe. In 1981, former Brittania sportswear executive Richard Raymond Lentz and Hong Kong partners, Tony Lau and Brian Leung, founded the Union Bay Sportswear. The Port of Seattle paved way for faster shipments from Asia while the apparel line reflected the rugged Northwestern lifestyle. In 1986, the company renamed itself into Seattle Pacific Industries Inc.
