Launched in 2004 by Anton Juul, Mikkel Gronnebaek and Tobia Sloth, Norse Projects is a menswear brand mixing elements of streetwear and work wear then refining them into a Scandinavian inspired high quality product. Norse Projects is known for its simple and classic designs with basic workwear functionalities. The label is influenced by the Scandinavian environment but injected with that cool street culture edge. Since its inaugural full collection launched in 2009, Norse Projects has expanded to notable retail stores in the United States, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Australia and Europe.

On the other hand, their original muse, the Norse Store, has already been established as one of Northern Europe’s best street and footwear boutiques. It is located in the heart of Copenhagen by King’s Gardens. The brick and mortar shop specializes in menswear with work apparel, outdoor clothing, sportswear and Japanese specialty products.

Albert Einstein has E=mc2. The mass–energy equivalence in physics is the concept that the mass of a body is a measure of its energy content. While in the style world, fashion equals DSquared2.

Dean and Dan Caten, Canadian twin brothers from Willowdale, Ontario, moved to New York City in 1983 to attend the Parson’s School of Design. After a short stint, they moved back to Toronto and pursued their first signature womens line, DEanDAN. Through the late 1980s and early 1990s, they managed to work with various designers and brands such as Ports 1961, Gianni Versace and Diesel. Since moving to Italy in 1991, Dean and Dan Caten finally debuted their first menswear collection named “Homesick Canada Collection” in Milan. In 1996, the “Napoli” collection, inspired by the Neapolitan roots of their father, also premiered.

When the new millennium came in, DSquared2, gained prominence and massive media exposure. In 2000, the brand created the wardrobe for Madonna’s video, Don’t Tell Me. In 2002, Madonna wore DSquared2 for the cowboy segment of her “Drowned World Tour 2002″ and their womenswear line launched in Milan. The decade saw DSquared2‘s expansion of its media presence through collaborations with well known personalities such as Christina Aguilera, Rihanna, Fergie and Britney Spears. Designers, Dean and Dan Caten, also garnered many awards recognizing their talent and influence. Furthermore, the company also became active in sports and sponsored Turin’s soccer club, Juventus and Barcelona Football Club.

If the late Mr. Miyagi would have another karate kid, he would be a candidate. Moschino defined the 1990s decade with clothes emblazoned with slogans such as “Good Taste Doesn’t Exist” and “Fashion, Fashoff”.

The Moschino brand is known for its innovative, colorful and unorthodox fashion clothing designs. The social awareness campaigns in the 1990s also brought spotlight and a challenge to the fashion industry’s status quo.

The man behind the global luxury brand is the late Franco Moschino (1950-1994). Born in Abbiategrasso, Lombardy, Italy, Franco started as a painter and sketch artist for Giorgio Armani. In 1977, he also became a designer at Cadette. In 1983, he started his own fashion company, Moonshadow. It was also this year that the Moschino brand essentially was founded. The first womenswear line for Spring Summer 1984 was presented in Milan. In 1989, the first Moschino Boutique opened in Milan, Via S. Andrea. Throughout the years, with Gianni Versace’s encouragement, his eccentric out-of-the-box designs and unique combination of fabric materials carved a place for him in the fashion world.

After Franco’s untimely death in 1994, former assistant, Rossella Jardini has been the company’s creative director continuing the brand’s stylistic and philosophical approach to fashion. In 1999, Moschino becomes part of the Aeffe Fashion Group and stores opened in Taipei and Hong Kong. In 2000, Aeffe Fashion Group sells a percentage of the company to SINV S.p.a., which has been the Moschino Jeans collection licensee since 1994. Today, Moschino has expanded into perfumes, helmets, watches, jewelry, furniture and even a hotel called “Maison Moschino” in Milan at Viale Monte Grappa, 12. Moschino‘s apparel lines include premier brand Moschino and sub-brands, Moschino Cheap and Chic and Love Moschino. Together, they continue to be true to Franco’s creativity, appeal and elegance.

After scoping around for a good second hand traditional British men’s clothing at Portobello Road in West London in 1979, Jeremy Hackett and Ashley Lloyd-Jennings partnered up selling well refurbished apparel. The first shop was named “Hackett” located at the New Kings Road in Parson’s Green, London.

The early 1980s brought Hackett to cult status as advocated by “Young Fogeydom” and the “Sloane Ranger handbook”. As they began manufacturing new clothes to complement their second hand apparel, Hackett attracted the high end Savile Row patrons. In the late 1980s, Hackett expanded its presence in Europe, particularly in Spain.

The 90s decade brought Alfred Dunhill’s influence which allowed Hackett to open its flagship store in Sloane Street, London SW1. Further on, Hackett began producing children’s clothes dubbed as “Essential British Kids”.

The millennium until today has enabled Hackett to delve into more athletic participation and sports sponsorships. As it grows, the list has presented Guards Polo Club, Goodwood Festival of Speed, England Rugby team, GT1 works Aston Martin Racing team, London Rowing Club, the British Army Polo Team, Rundle Cup, Lotus Racing, Santa Maria Polo Club in Spain, The London Rowing Club, Klosters Snow Polo, The Boat Race and Elephant Polo in India.

Hackett is indeed a classic men’s British style but not old fashioned. The design philosophy is more evolutionary rather than revolutionary. The modern touch makes its style sustainable.

The menswear division of the famous French fashion house Christian Dior is Dior Homme. From the creative direction of Hedi Slimane to Kris Van Assche, Dior Homme has captured the spirit of rock and roll in a darkened, edgy yet sophisticated look. A spill over from Dior Monsieur, Dior Homme continues to influence popular rock and film personalities. Current trends show fluid silhouettes in their cuts for tops and trousers plus the power of leather abound.
