Were you milk fed when you were a baby? Either natural breast milk or formula, chances are, you did. Humans, as well as mammals in the animal kingdom, were milk fed when they were infants.

But the real question is. Are you currently milk fed in style?

MILKFED. or Milk Fed is a Japanese fashion brand created by American screenwriter, film director and producer, Sofia Coppola in 1994. The label is focused on womenswear with petite or small/extra small sizes. Sofia Coppola is the daughter of one of Hollywood’s most innovative and influential film directors, Francis Ford Coppola. She interned with Karl Lagerfeld at the french fashion house Chanel. After a stint with X-girl, she launched her own brand, MILKFED. with Stephanie Hayman and Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon.

MILKFED.‘s style is a mixture of 1970s-80s Pop culture to classic American casual with a small dash of quirkiness on the side. The products are available at Coppola owned Heaven27 boutiques, international dealers and online stores such as calif and ZoZoTown.

The man behind the Ben Sherman brand was the late Arthur Benjamin Sugarman, who was born in Brighton, England in 1925. While applying citizenship in America, he changed his name to Ben Sherman. As he was already making shirts for other people, only in 1963 that he became ready to launch his own shirt label.

The first Ben Sherman shirt followed a classic American Ivy League top with his signature back hook, which is a button on the back of the collar. He used Oxford fabrics in pale shades of pink, yellow and blue plus candy stripes patterns. The shirts eventually became a huge success. Ben Sherman targeted various British youth markets in different eras such as the post war teddy boys, Italian style modernists or mods in the 60s, rock & roll hipsters from the 70s, retro ska culture from the 80s and the cool Britannia and Brit pop movements of the 90s.

Owned by Oxford Industries since 2004, the label has become a global lifestyle brand. Not only does the company produce shirts but also entered into different apparel lines such as suits, denim jeans, shoes and accessories. Their signature designs also include the Royal Air Force roundel or mod target and Carnaby fit styles. Ben Sherman currently sells in over 40 countries worldwide.

The word “whiz” denotes making a buzzing or hissing sound, in most cases, by flying swiftly through the air. On the other hand, “Cheez Whiz” is a well known bright orange thick processed cheese sauce or spread sold by Kraft Foods usually contained in a glass jar.

In Japanese fashion, Whiz Limited is a streetwear brand known for its concept of individual clothing, design conscious silhouettes and unique Tokyo style outlook. Founder, Hiroaki Shitano, launched his label in Autumn Winter 2000 with “Whiz” as its moniker. Three years later, he added the word “Limited” to its name. What started as handmade printed shirts grew in popularity; thus, expanding Whiz Limited into several lines such as jackets, denim, knitwear and accessories. In 2003, he opened his flagship Harajuku shop Lump Tokyo. The brand also has collaborated with many international labels such as Levi’s, Stussy, Medicom Toy, Disney Marvel, New Era and Adidas with designer Kazuki Kuraishi.

Nikeys are perhaps one of the most famous athletic shoe brands in history and in the world. The highly recognized trademarks of “Just do it” and the Swoosh logo became a symbol of athletics, fitness and sports. The name Nike was actually derived from the Greek goddess of victory.

On the other hand, Nike Skateboarding is Nike‘s dedication to skateboarding’s artistic form, culture and skill. In 2001, Nike Skateboarding adopted the slogan, “Respect the past, embrace the future.” With a growing community of pros and upcoming amateurs, the brand continues to inspire and support skateboarders for years to come.

One of streetwear’s famous logos come from the Volcom Stone. Founded by Richard “Wooly” Woolcott and Tucker “T-Dawg” Hall in 1991 on a snowboarding trip, Volcom materialized through passion, energy and young creative thinking. Unwilling to accept the suppression of established ways, the brand adopted the philosophy of “youth against establishment” as a guiding force to their venture.

Based in Costa Mesa in Southern California, U.S.A., Volcom has expanded to different countries marking its presence in the US, North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Brazil and Indonesia. Today, the company has solidified its global community supporting the passion for art, music, film, skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding and motocross. The environmentally inclined V.Co-Logical Series, the rider-collaborative V.Co-Operative Series, Genuine Volcom Brand Jeans and the Featured Artist Series are just few of Volcom’s premiere product collections. Volcom continues to create clothing that not only exemplifies their unique lifestyle but also enhances the ability to live it.
