Founded in 1984 by Swiss native, Thomas Meyer, Desigual is known for its signature patchwork designs, rich colorful print patterns, dynamic graffiti art designs and vibrant color explosion. From Isabel Coixet’s idea, they chose the name “Desigual” and accompanied it by the slogan of “It’s not the same”.

Based in Barcelona, Spain, the casual clothing brand has been led by Manel Adell since 2002. The key factor for their success is the concept of Fun&Profit. MILKFED. or Milk Fed is a Japanese fashion brand created by American screenwriter, film director and producer, Sofia Coppola in 1994. The label is focused on womenswear with petite or small/extra small sizes. Sofia Coppola is the daughter of one of Hollywood’s most innovative and influential film directors, Francis Ford Coppola. She interned with Karl Lagerfeld at the french fashion house Chanel. After a stint with X-girl, she launched her own brand, MILKFED. with Stephanie Hayman and Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon.

The story of the imogene + willie brand started way back as a seed of friendship between founders and now husband & wife, Matt and Carrie Eddmenson, when they first met as schoolyard buddies in Kentucky in the United States. Later on, they became coworkers at Carrie’s family business in denim manufacturing. When the company closed down, they still continued in their passion for denim and they set up shop by Granny White Pike in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2009, the old gas service station became their production facility, retail store and think tank for the brand. imogene + willie takes pride in using selvage fabrics or raw dry denim threads made exclusively for them by the vintage shuttle looms of North Carolina, alternatively revered as Cone Denim.

The name imogene + willie is an ode and a token of deep appreciation to Willie & Imogene, Leo & Sally, Anthony & Hazel and James H. & Gladys, who are their paternal and maternal grandparents. The brand, work culture and company signifies Matt and Carrie’s rich loving relationships with all of their grandparents. It represents the life lessons they have picked up and continue to learn from them, together with abundant memories and experiences they forever cherish.

H&M was established in Västerås, Sweden in 1947 by Erling Persson through their women’s clothing store called Hennes. In 1968, the founder, Erling Persson, bought the hunting/fishing equipment shop and menswear/kids clothing line, Mauritz Widforss. Eventually the company name Hennes (Swedish for “her or hers or women”) was modified to Hennes & Mauritz. Later on, it was abbreviated to H&M.

The 1970s brought H&M‘s listing on the Stockholm Stock Exchange and an international store in London. The 1980s saw shops open in Germany and the Netherlands including the acquisition of a mail order company called Rowells. Further to the 1990s, H&M continued to expand in Europe and massive advertising gained more exposure. The new millenium brought H&M its first US store in New York, several collaborations with famous personalities and designers, an ecommerce expansion and more openings in Asia such as Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo. In 2007, the concept store COS was launched. In 2008, the company acquired the FaBric Scandinavien AB with Weekday, Monki and Cheap Monday brands. By 2011, H&M already launched stores in Russia, Lebanon, South Korea, Israel, Romania and many more. The brand has also expanded into different markets such as home collection, cosmetics, accessories and footwear. H&M carries the &denim jeans among its various jeanswear line.

Founded in 2008 in Japan by Daisaku Yamada (Dan), HASO jeans is a designer jeans brand that encourages its customers to be involved in the design of jeans. The word “haso” means creative in Japanese. The denim label embraces the “happy and moved” and “play on jeans” slogans which Daisaku Yamada (Dan) expresses. Their production process incorporates high grade Japanese fabrics from Okayama. Today, HASO jeans has established its fashion presence in China, particularly in Shanghai, Beijing, Hangzhou, Shenyang and Chongqing.

Founded in 2000, Cycle Jeans is the brainchild of Andrea Bertin and Elena Boaretto together with production partner, Italservices S.p.a. Andrea Bertin’s experience came in from working with Alberto Biani and the E-Play line. While, Elena Boaretto’s experience came in from Replay’s womens sector. Both designers came from Fashion Box.

The desire to give cyclicity and mission to reinvent and recreate, according to their lifestyle, pre-existing ways of being, brought forth the existence of the Cycle brand. It is this principle that Cycle‘s clothing designs are a rich blend of strong research, shapes, fabrics, finishings, weaving techniques, washes and modern production processes. The style formula combines sartorial feel and modern casual apparel.

“Be sure wear pure” is the slogan that represents the brand. “Be sure” stresses the passion with which each Cycle garment is created. “Wear pure” refers to the natural materials and best fabrics used.
