Born in Elmira, New York, Tommy Hilfiger‘s career in fashion started in high school back in 1969 when he opened a small chain of stores called People’s Place. He began designing for several boutiques and decided to pursue a career as a full time fashion designer in New York City. With Mohan Murjani’s business support, he launched his first signature collection in 1985 with a youthful relaxed appeal, modern button-down shirts and updated designs of classics.

Tommy Hilfiger has also collaborated with legendary ad man George Lois in developing influential ad campaigns and media such as the “hangman ad” and the Iconic America: A Roller-Coaster Ride through the Eye-Popping Panorama of American Pop Culture book. In the 1990s, Tommy Hilfiger began featuring emerging talent such as Britney Spears and Lenny Kravitz in his ads. In 2009, the company launched Hilfiger Denim blending quality denim jeans, modern designs and the dynamic music industry. In 2010, Phillips-Van Heusen, owner of Calvin Klein, bought the Tommy Hilfiger Corporation.

For 25 years, the brand has brought classic yet modern American apparel all over the world. Under his guidance, the Tommy Hilfiger Group has become one of very few globally recognized designer brands offering a wide range of American-inspired apparel and accessories.

German designer, Tom Rebl, founded his label in 2007 in Italy. He studied fashion design at the Dt. Meisterschule für Mode and Central Saint Martins College in London. He worked at Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and as creative director at Andrew MacKenzie.

The TOM REBL brand gained exposure and hype through the 2008-2009 Fall Winter Collection entitled “Shocking Radiance”. Today, TOM REBL is known for its eccentricity and artistic, often provocative, vision of the world blended with a high quality Italian production process, innovative designs and the British rock & roll edge. In the retail fashion and high school or teen apparel trends, there is the Los Angeles (Commerce) based brand Tyte Jeans which is well known for its juniors sportswear, missy casual bottoms and private label sourcing capabilities. Tyte Jeans is also popular for their leg warmers. The company was founded in 1991 by Alden Halpern, who previously served as President of Creative Garment (Breaker Jeans).

2812 might be an address. Or 2812 may be a galaxy in the Cancer constellation. In fact 2812, more appropriately spelled as Twenty8Twelve, is a fashion brand founded by Sienna Miller and her sister Savannah.

Sienna Miller is an American born English actress and model, best known for her roles in Alfie, Factory Girl and The Edge of Love. In 2004-2005, she has been closely associated with the style of fashion called boho-chic. On the other hand, Savannah Miller had a degree in Fashion Design from Central Saint Martins. After college, she worked for Alexander McQueen and then for Matthew Williamson, Anya Hindmarch, Betty Jackson and Shanghai Tang.

In 2006, fashion entrepreneur Carlos Ortega approached Sienna Miller and her sister Savannah to develop a designer diffusion level brand. Initiating the fashion label brought them to choose Sienna’s birthday, which is the 28th of December, as the name; thus, Twenty8Twelve was born.

The first collection in 2007 referred as “An Anthology of Rebellion”, showcased refined garments with an androgynous feel and eccentric elements with the Dickensian London essence. Polished denim, knitwear, dresses and masculine shirts were laid out. In Spring Summer 2008, the collection entitled “Ode to Evelyn”, reflected 19th century’s recklessness, triumph and tragedy. The theme was more boyish, simplified, oversized and unstructured. Moving on towards Autumn Winter, the collection featured looks from 1970s youth culture. Dark, muted and rebellious dictated the theme. Finally, the 2009 Spring Summer collection called “Beyond Mount Macedon” is set in contrast from 1700s Marie Antoinette, 1900s Australia and 1940s Bordeaux.
