In public criminal history, the Billionaire Boys Club was a nickname for an investment and social organization called BBC organized by Joseph Gamsky (Joe Hunt) in southern California back in 1983. The association ran as a Ponzi scheme and supported the lavish lifestyles for the young members of the club.
There were a few adaptations in popular culture. An NBC miniseries starring Judd Nelson aired in 1987. An episode of Law & Order based this story on a specific character. Books by Sue Horton and Randall Sullivan were also published in light of this.
Now, Billionaire Boys Club, along with another luxury line called Ice Cream, is known as a streetwear brand established by Pharell of the Neptunes, Manager Robert Walker and Japanese fashion icon Nigo of BAPE (A Bathing Ape). Mostly made in Japan, Billionaire Boys Club clothing are recognized for its bright colors, eccentric patterns and vintage feel. The “All Over Print” sweatshirts made a mark among urban fashionistas.
