Hysteria is defined as an uncontrollable outburst of emotions. Sensory or motor disturbances like hallucination, weeping, laughter or paralysis happen. On the other hand, glamour is a quality of excitement, desirability, and compelling attractiveness in one’s appearance or manner. Hysteric glamour would then be a wild outpouring of emotions of other people due to one’s own social or cultural status as what usually happens when seeing or meeting celebrities and famous personalities.

The Hysteric Glamour brand sprung up as Nobuhiko Kitamura became chief designer. Born in Tokyo, Japan, Kitamura began working for Ozon Community Corporation. Having seen Kitamura’s provocative eye for design, the company allowed him to develop a new unisex brand. Inspired by both the American pop culture and music from the 1960s-70s and the contemporary context of Japanese culture, Kitamura launched Hysteric Glamour .

There are 5 minor brands of Hysteric Glamour.

• Hysterics: Hysteric Glamour’s high end women’s line focuses on decadent expression of female sensuality and artistic style sensibilities.
• Thee Hysterics XXX: Hysteric Glamour’s high end men’s line draws attention through its rock & roll styles wrapped up in richer, tighter and edgier designs.
• Hysteric Glamour Womens: The clothing line follows from the motifs of 1960s to early 1980s American and European Rock & Roll. It combines sensuality and edge.
• Hysteric Glamour Mens: With a similar era of inspiration to women’s, the men’s line showcases military styles and uniforms. It is influenced from underground comics, porn and muscle cars.
• Joey Hysteric: This is the children’s line reflecting themes from both grown up apparel of the brand.
