The building blocks of Prps denim comes from the finest organic cotton harvested in African regions of Benin, Senegal, Zimbabwe and Uganda. The materials are sent to Japan and woven into denim cloth. The fabrics are processed through vintage Levis shuttle looms. The Japanese craftsmanship on the jeans is up to par with tailors on Savile Row.
The distressing and aging procedures of Prps denim produce authentic and natural effects. Each stain, abrasion, needle and thread are done by hand. Signature styles come in five different button enclosures on the fly, camouflage or contrast pocket bag inner lining and the unique purple selvedge.
Based in New York and manufactured in Japan, Prps denim was founded in 2003 by Donwan Harrel. Former Nike designer and founder of clothing brand Akademiks, Harrel saw Prps as a voice expressing a free spirited cultural experience and a tool utilizing the classic American lifestyle. The 1970s dragstrip scene is an influence to the Prps style. Tattered holes, oil stains, wrinkled creased effects and distressed vintage designs on the denim show its essence.
