As we may be aware of, the term “All Saints” is an annual feast either celebrated on the 1st of November or the first Sunday after Pentecost. The day commemorates all saints, martyrs and the beatified. Coincidentally, the date is also called “All Hallows” as it follows a grim theme October 31st, Halloween, and precedes a somber “All Souls Day” on the 2nd of November.
London’s dark horse and cult brand, AllSaints Spitalfields, similarly exudes a melancholic emotion yet produces an edgy style to its collections. Jeanswear appeal has dark imagery. Denim style has that introspective mood. Together with the AllSaints name is the place, Spitalfields. This English borough is located in Tower Hamlets by the East End of London. The area was known for large extramural cemeteries, a short period of silk and textile industrial boom and a dubious era where a serial killer known as Jack the Ripper had traversed. Now, a gradual gentrification and urban regeneration has been implemented throughout.
